Q: What is the mission of the Black Women's Arts Festival?
A: Please read our Mission & Founder’s Statement.
Q: I’m not a black woman artist, but I make art featuring images of Black women. Can I be featured at the Black Women’s Arts Festival?
A: We’ve got lots of ways you can help us. You could donate, sponsor, and/or volunteer. We’d love your help!
Q: Well, what if I want to perform?
A: Non-black female participants are welcome provided they are in the assisting role of a black female artist-led or created project. For example, if you're a black woman leading a band, the musicians in your band needn't be black women.
Q: I want to volunteer. How do I do that?
A: Please register your name and phone number with us by either calling (215) 951-0330, ext. 2108 and leaving your first and last name, a brief message “I’d like to volunteer” and your phone number(s). Or you can email (preferred) the same information. We mostly need a telephone number to add to our volunteer phone tree as we’ve found phoning gets the best results.
Q: I’d like to be a participant, featured artist, sponsor, or something else. What do I do next?
Q: I’d like to be on your email list, how do I sign up?
A: Join our Yahoo Group
Q: Your organization seems to be a great cause. Could you use a donation? If so, how do I send it in?
A: Wow, could we! Click directly here to learn more about the highly honorable and divine act of donating to the Black Women’s Arts Festival!
Q: Your organization and this website seem to indicate a rich resource of folks I might want to advertise to, network with, or buy from. How do tap into that there veritable cornucopia of goodness? Do you sell, trade, or share your mailing list, for example?
A: That is a mighty good question, Sir, Madam, or whatever your self-imposed or percieved gender is! We, in fact, do not ever share, sell, or trade our email list, which you are correct in saying is indeed chock full of both country and city goodness. However, you do have access to it via our mailing list. All you have to do is visit it. You don't even have to join to read or post messages of your own. Simply add BWAFphilly@yahoogroups.com to your mailing list and voila! Everytime you send out your list, hundreds of devoted BWAF Philly listserve members along with the thousands of nonsubscribers who frequently log on to read the messages will have access to your news. You can also peruse the messages to find like-minded folks to network with. Good luck and visit soon!
Q: Who do I contact with questions or comments (but mostly flattery and praise) about your website?
A: Email us with “Web Goddess” in the subject field. And remember, don’t hold your breath about us getting back to you until we have way more volunteers on hand to reply to emails. And remember to repeat the mantras, “They are doing the best that they can!” and “I am very important to them!” Because we are. And you are very important to us. So there!
Thank you for visiting and please come back again soon, or else!
