Founded in 2003 in Philadelphia, the Black Women’s Arts Festival (BWAF) is a community event which focuses on the visibility and viability of black women artists of all genres and media without regard for: age, gender expression, physical ability, religion, sexual orientation or size.
From 2007 - 2010 BWAF functioned as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization through the New Beginnings Nonprift Incubator of Resources for Human Development. June 2011 marked the beginning of a new partnership between BWAF and Moonstone, a Philadelphia-based arts and education nonprofit organization which has been in existence since 1973 and has worked with BWAF organizers since 2002.
BWAF continues to present this very special annual showcase of multi-genre arts by black women for all communities to enjoy.
All respectful persuns are, and have always been welcome to attend and participate!
